Roundtable discussion “Causes and Consequences of the Chornobyl Accident”

To commemorate the victims of the Chornobyl accident and to implement the objectives of the project of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “Radiation Safety: European-Ukrainian Approach” (101127143-RISE–UP–ERASMUS–JMO-2023-HEI–TCH–RSCH), a roundtable discussion on “Causes and Consequences of the Chornobyl Accident” was held on 26 April 2024. Moderated by the lecturer, Professor Volodymyr Kotsiubynskyi, the participants discussed the physical aspects of radioactive radiation, the causes of the Chornobyl accident, the long-term harmful effects of radioactive waste, and methods of protecting the body from contamination.

More than 150 students from different specialities of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and the Environmental Protection Technology speciality of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas attended the event in a hybrid mode.
