Training “Radiation Safety: physical aspect“_2025

On 21 February, a training session for talented youth at the children’s educational camp “Iron Squad” took place, focusing on the physical aspects of radiation safety. The event was conducted by Professors Volodymyr Kotsiubynskyi and Volodymyra Boichuk from the Department of Applied Physics and Materials Science as part of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project “Radiation Safety: European-Ukrainian Approach” (101127143-RISE–UP–ERASMUS–JMO-2023-HEI–TCH–RSCH).

The interactive session brought together 60 participants, immersing them in the world of radioactive particles that surround us. Practical tasks included calculating the annual absorbed dose of radiation and directly measuring radiation levels from various substances, including food products. Games and activities not only captivated the children’s attention but also allowed them to feel like real scientists.

Such events expand children’s knowledge of radiation safety and contribute to career guidance for young people, inspiring future professionals to choose STEM careers.
