On the 31st of October, the Department of Forensic Medicine, Medical and Pharmaceutical Law and the Scientific Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University together with the Department of Materials Science and New Technologies of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University held a training for students of the Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association (UMSA) “Peculiarities of Collecting Biological Traces from a Crime Scene” and the training “Radiation Safety: Medical and Biological Aspect” on the specifics of radiation safety during wartime.

In addition to the training, the Head of the Department Volodymyr Kotsiubynskyi and Professor Volodymyra Boichuk gave a short lecture within the framework of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “RadiatIon Safety: European-Ukrainian APproach” (101127143-RISE–UP–ERASMUS–JMO-2023-HEI–TCH–RSCH). Yuliia Kotsiubynska, the Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Medical and Pharmaceutical Law, introduced the students to the theoretical foundations of crime scene examination and the seizure of material evidence. During the practical part, Valeriia Chadiuk, Assistant Professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Medical and Pharmaceutical Law, worked with the students to conduct a crime scene examination and collect material evidence of biological origin. Additionally, Andrii Kotsiubynskyi, Associate Professor at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, demonstrated the use of chemical reagents to detect hidden traces of blood.
