Ostafiychuk Bogdan K. was born 02.08.1948. Himchyn village Kosiv district, Ivano-Frankivsk region in a peasant family. After graduating with honors Rozhnivskoyi high school in 1966 he studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics Ivano-Frankivsk State Pedagogical Institute, where, after graduating, he worked in the research laboratory. From 1972 to 1975 he studied at the graduate Institute of Metal Sciences of Ukraine. In 1975 he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Sciences’ Electronic structure of intermetallic phases such Lovesa. ” Since 1976, worked as head of NDS Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute and assistant professor of physics. At this time active in solid state physics, namely the creation of new anti-friction material and acid protective coatings on metals and alloys, directed a number of research projects and themes. Since 1988, he organized and has equipped scientific laboratory equipment unique physics of magnetic films and the contest goes to work in the Institute of Metal Science of Ukraine for the post of head of the laboratory, concentrating its efforts on the study and modification of the structure and magnetic properties of ferrite-garnet single crystal films. Postdoctoral “Structure and magnetic properties of ion-implanted epitaxial ferrite-garnet films” (Scientific Council of the Institute of Metal Physics, NAS Ukraine, m. Kyiv) in 1993 was invited to the post of vice-rector for scientific work Prikarpatsky University named after V. Stefanik, while performing required bandages head joint research laboratory of physics of magnetic tapes Institute of Metal physics NAS of Ukraine and Prikarpatsky University. The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2001, this laboratory was granted the status of national scientific heritage of Ukraine.

Main research interests Ostafiychuk BK concentrated in the physics of magnetic materials and nanoscale systems. The results obtained with his participation and under his leadership, are the international standards and their practical application possible to create generators and electric energy storage with parameters far exceeding the known world analogues. His scientific work of Professor BK Ostafiychuk always combined with teaching. He is the author of 8 textbooks, 3 textbooks, 4 monographs, over 200 scientific articles and inventions under his supervision defended 28 candidate and 3 doctoral theses, ten diploma and master works. Professor BK Ostafiychuk a member of the editorial board of two journals, head of the Specialized Academic Council on doctoral theses, expert on the physics of HAC Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Education of Ukraine professional. Since 1994, while head of the department of materials science and new technologies, successfully managed the preparation of doctoral and master’s theses, developing fundamental and applied topics in nanotechnology and nano fizykotermodynamichnyh properties. From February 2005 to February 2012 Ostafiychuk BK – Rector Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanik.
